Your house, your lot, our work.
There’s a lot of misconceptions regarding custom homes, chief among them is that it’s too expensive. That’s just not true. All things being equal, you’re going to spend the same amount of money to have your home built that you would to buy that home brand new. But when you work with us, it’s your home. You make the selections, the decisions, what goes in and where it goes. A lot of production builders brand themselves as “custom,” but they limit you to a handful of plans, just a few color choices, three stone choices, etc… We do have plans and selections for you to choose from if you’d like, but at the end of the day, when we say custom homes, we mean custom.
Using the online program BuilderTrend, we can maintain schedules and post updates on all facets of the project in real time. So, no matter where you are, you’ll know what’s happening with the build.
There’s one regrettable truth in our industry that I hear time and time again—that’s the contentious relationship between builders and buyers. Obviously, every custom builder you research is going to tell you how wonderful the experience will be, and how they’ll be there for you step by step. Judging by the experiences of our clients who’ve built homes before they found us, a lot of those builders aren’t telling you the truth.
It’s a huge commitment getting in to a long-term relationship with a builder. Our reputation as honest, easy-going, and caring, speaks for itself. We’ll be there for you, because your dream home, is also one of ours.
About the owner-
I was born and raised in Bend, Oregon and have lived in this beautiful state my whole life. As kids, my friends and I would wander the new neighborhoods on the weekends, running around in the recently framed up homes—we had a blast, even when we were being chased away.
I ended up in Eugene after high school and got a degree from the University of Oregon.
Following college I worked as a writer in Portland for a couple years. But, I became restless and wanted something new. So I became a wildland firefighter with the Forest Service.
For the first three years I worked out of Central Oregon on a Type Two IA crew. Following that I got on with the Zigzag Hotshots.
Fighting wild fires was amazing, and I’m grateful for every moment. But after four years the restlessness quieted a bit, and I decided instead of working 1000 hours of overtime in a summer, I’d rather be home with my fiancé and our Saint Bernard, Taco.
However, I still wanted to do something dynamic, something challenging. So, I found myself a mentor, got a General Contractors license, learned to build homes, and started Stumptown Built, LLC.
That’s where I’m at now; living in Portland and enjoying my business every day.
Please feel free to contact me with your design, or with any other questions you may have.
Thanks a lot,
-Cody Newton
